What does home mean when your heart belongs to more than one place?
The Nightjar Journey is a warm and imaginative family performance exploring migration, belonging and the many ways we carry home with us.
Told through music, song, puppetry and shadow play, the story follows a young girl as she leaves behind the place she knows and begins a new life somewhere unfamiliar. Guided by the mysterious Nightjar — a bird that journeys thousands of miles between Africa and Europe each year — she begins to discover that belonging is not always about choosing one home over another. Sometimes we can carry many places, memories and people within us.
Created as a portable “suitcase story”, The Nightjar Journey brings together visual storytelling, performance and music to create an intimate theatrical experience for children and adults alike.
Suitable for ages 5+ and family audiences, duration 30 minutes.
